Olive
Sweet golden hues lean in
hints of dreams and room to breathe
Olive is a visual and musical artist; situated in the juxtaposition between the energetic fascination of beauty and the melancholic discernment of loss, wherein lies the authentic, kaleidoscopic life experience. Olive’s latest album “4,000 Miles Away” is the coming of age story for your 30’s, set in the legendary odyssey of adulthood. Journeying through the experiences of childhood, and how your own childhood story retells itself through the practice of parenthood; evaluating the accumulated baggage in your lifetime and asking the question “Why am I holding on?”; taking note of the unfamiliar terrain and asking “Has anyone been here? Are we lost?” Olive is intrigued by the contrasts of participation and observation; the power of choice and the release of acceptance.
Olive grew up playing bluegrass music on the stages of Branson, and spent 15 years touring the United States in her family’s band. After a six year interlude; devoting time to growing a family and encouraging roots to settle in; she is exploring her artistic compulsions with energy and curiosity, allowing space for inquiry and imagination, embracing the exquisiteness of the mind’s capacity to grow, redirect, and fully enjoy the human experience.
“4,000 Miles Away” was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Jon Joseph, with influences such as Olivia Dean, Death Cab for Cutie, and Emile Mosseri; Olive has taken her music to a novel horizon to be savored with fresh perspective, dipping her toes in new genres such as alternative and pop.
